Dear Member,

There may be no sailing at present at Budworth but there’s still plenty going on……

WORKING PARTIES

We’ve now had the first two working parties and the attendance has been great – thank you for your support – please keep it up until the last one on Sunday 24th February. Work starts at around 10 / 10.30 with a break for a hot lunch provided by the Catering Committee (and if you were down this weekend you got a real treat – Alison and Michele’s award winning Shepard’s pie). If you have a particular skill to offer please contact Steve Hubbard to let him know, otherwise just turn up! This coming Sunday there is going to be a ‘filling in the holes in the road party,’ and a painting party in the bar to finish the refurbishment started this last weekend. If you can please bring down appropriate tools for the job, but if in doubt speak to Steve (01606 891843).

LOST AND LEFT PROPERTY

As during the working parties this year we decide that if you wanted it desperately you’d have had a look for it at the club by now! All property left in the changing rooms is on a table in the clubhouse and if not claimed by the last working party will make it’s way to the tip. Also included this year is an assortment of sails, rudders, bikes and other bits and pieces which appear to have been abandoned in the bosuns shed for quite a while. If you think something may be yours please collect it!

POWER BOAT COURSE

Building on the success of previous courses the Club is again hosting a powerboat level 1 / 2 course over two weekends pre season. The course which will again be subsidised by the Club in recognition of the enhanced rescue boat driving skills we gain. Any queries please contact Steve Kelham or Chris Hinkins direct.

AND FINALLY….

You must have heard about PPP and their vast success by now (Pauline Penny Productions). To celebrate the start of the season, and Pauline and her band of helper’s hard work, we are having a bar / season opening party and quiz night at the Club on Saturday 23rd February. A fun social event for all – no sailing questions…. The fun starts at 7.30 on Saturday 23rd February. There is a small entry fee of £3 per adult and £2 per junior which includes tasty snacks and prizes. More details closer to the time but please put the date in your diary now. Last year the event was a near sell out so to avoid disappointment book your barstool soon – especially considering the all new and improved surroundings.

See you Sunday with paintbrush in hand….
