Fun for everyone again this year - see the pictures in the Gallery/Easter Egg Drop album.

This year 7 teams managed to complete the challenge with their eggs intact ,Tom & Steve ,Miles & John ,Ted ,Tom ,Luke and Alex ,Ian Dawn and Ell,Vicky and Russell and finally  Phil Laura and Emma. The deciding factor for the winner was the proximity to the target which was achieved by the Hackney team ,Phil’s lateral thinking used his roll of tape to add stability to their entry ,there were valiant attempts by all who entered and one particularly cheeky entry from Ted who used the full length of his parachute lines to minimise the drop. Well done to all entrants .

Racing has started!

The Main Points series got off to a good start yesterday, and you can now see some excellent pictures on the Gallery page in the March 2008 album

The details for other series in 2008 are as follows:

SATURDAY HANDICAP – 22nd March

The Saturday Handicap season starts this coming weekend, Sat 22nd March. First race at 2.00pm.
There are 12 Saturdays in the EARLY series, which runs through to the end of June. This is then followed by 13 Saturdays in the LATE series, which runs from July to the end of October. That’s 25 in total (not 27 as shown in the Handbook)

With 3 races each Saturday, there are a possible 36 and 39 races to sail in each series respectively. Only 8 races are required to qualify in each series and prizes are awarded for the first 3 places.
Scoring is based on the low points system with a discard available for every race sailed over the qualifying eight. Handicaps are calculated as indicated in your 2008 handbook (Page 34) which is now available. Additional copies are held behind the bar!

Hence the Saturday Handicap series provides close and fair competition where Mirrors, Toppers and GP14s can beat Lasers, RS200s and the other Budworth fleets. This together with the friendly and relaxed competition makes for an ideal family day sailing.

CHAMPION HELM CUP – Sun 26th October
In a new format this year, Champion Helm will be a one day event at the end of October, and not combined with handicap racing as in recent years.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SAILING – 23rd April
For those enjoying a mid-week break on the water, Wednesday Night Sailing starts on Wed 25th April with the first of two races at 7.00pm.
