First Aid Training

bsc_emergency4hr1st_aid_course.jpgbsc_emergency1day1st_aid_course.jpgAs part of several RYA qualifications its necessary to have a First Aid certificate that is RYA compliant. In the past Club Members have organised their own training, but the Club recognises that as well as helping Members achieve their qualifications it is also in the Club’s interest to have as many people around who know what to do in an emergency. We’re therefore looking at organising training for Club Members either at the Club or locally. Attached are advertisements for the two available courses (half and full day).

For RYA qualifications the full day course is required. Please contact Gill Kenyon for further details, or to book a course by email or by phone 077989-36004.

Power Boat Training

Following on from the success of previous courses the club is again hosting Craig Hinkins to run a Power Boat Level 1 & 2 Course on Saturday 10th and Sunday 17th November (both days have to be attended to acquire the PB 1&2 Qualification). As Emma says “I’ve heard so many good accounts of the course I’ve lost count, and even those who thought they knew how to drive a boat have come away impressed”.

For further details please see the Word document 2007_bsc_pb_course_info.doc  then contact Craig Hinkins direct, either phone 07703 176447 or by email.

Dear Member,

Well my previous email had you emailing allsorts of gossip and newsworthy events through for an update – so here we go with a selection. There’s lots going on so please try to scan through to the end if your busy….

Andrew Brown keeps on making BSC proud!!

Former Topper, and now Laser Radial Sailor, Andrew Brown isn’t just a fantastic sailor, as can be seen by his world ranking and his Mum and Dad’s sagging mantle piece, but now it’s been confirmed that he’s the Country’s top “One to Watch Young Athlete”. Andrew recently attended the SportsAid Gala Ball at London’s Hilton Park Lane Andrew was presented with the 2007 SportsAid One To Watch Award by triple Olympic medallist and Skandia Team GBR Finn sailor Ben Ainslie. A panel comprising five of the country’s leading national newspaper journalists selected Andrew ahead of some 2,000 SportsAid-supported young athletes nationwide.

To read more ( and to see Andrew in a dickie!) see the RYA website here

Prize Giving and Laying Up Supper.

Thought I’d get a plug in near the top……
