Fireball
Welcome to the Budworth Fireball Fleet - On these pages you will find information on the Budworth fleet and some of the history behind this great boat which has maintained its popularity over the years. Fireballs range from early amature built plywood hulls through to modern state of the art kevlar stiffened foam sandwich hulls and the kevlar sails, making this a class that all can aford and enjoy.
The Fireball fleet at Budworth was inaugurated in 1976 and has achieved unique status in the U.K. Fireball Association in that it is the only fleet in the North West still offering regular class racing for Fireballs.
This has been possible by the policy of Budworth Sailing Club to restrict its activities to supporting a limited core of active dinghy classes rather than proliferate into a wide range of classes which inevitably leads down the route of menagerie fleet handicap racing.

As a result, Budworth has the largest fleet of Fireballs in the North West, but it’s not that big that we wouldn’t welcome more.
Our fleet is large enough to have a top end, bottom end, and some in the middle. This means that, whatever your level of skill, there is usually someone else against whom you can enjoy close and exciting competition.
