About Us
Like the other fleets in the club we are always pleased to welcome new members to the fleet.
We sail a number of Fireball makes dating from the 1970s with the majority being from the latest Winder foam sandwich mold. We have our own section of the dinghy park which all helps toward a very friendly and communicative team spirit.
The fleet has been actively involved with the UKFA for many years, with various posts held and members participate in a number of national events each year.
There are usually opportunities to pick up a crewing job on a Fireball if you want to get into some exciting sailing but can’t yet run to a boat of your own.
Fleet members span the age range from under-20s to over-60s, from students to pensioners via doctors, teachers, engineers. You name it, they’re welcome.
The best time to see the fleet and club in action is a Sunday afternoon where you will be made welcome, especially if you take the initial step of making yourself known to anyone at the club and asking to be introduced to a member of the Fireball fleet.
We encourage our members to attend Open meetings at other clubs and this has brought us considerable success and recognition.
Naturally we host our own ‘Open’, usually around June or July (check the news page).
Occasionally a boat comes up for sale so it’s worth asking around if you’re looking for your first or to upgrade.
