GP14 Events for 2008
GP14 Open Meeting - Sun 1st June
June 2nd, 2008 by Craig HewettBudworth SC hosted the fifth round of the GP14 Northern Bell Open Meeting on Sunday 1st June.
In one of the best attended meetings of the season 27 GP14s sailed in a light testing northerly and steady rain. However the competition was close and OOD Graeme Bristow and team coped superbly with the conditions ensuring good beats and clean starts in all 3 races.
Competition was intense amongst the Gold Fleet sailors at the front of the fleet with wins shared by visiting sailors Innes Armstrong, Mark Platt and Ian Platt.
For the home fleet Bill Kenyon was the leading sailor posting two thirds and a fourth. As a result Bill retains his lead in the 2008 GP14 Northern Bell Championship, which is kindly sponsored by Omega Sails.
Competition was equally ferocious in the Silver and Bronze fleets with no single club showing dominance. The event was generously sponsored by Kelvin Hughes Ltd, through 1st Mark Chandlery of Golborne Lancs, which ensured a spread of prizes for large sections of all three fleets.

GP14 UK GrandMasters’ and Masters’ Championship
February 26th, 2008 by Craig HewettBudworth SC are delighted to be hosting the GP14 UK GrandMasters’ and Masters’ Championship over the weekend of 30th and 31st August 2008.You will be able to enjoy 4 races over 2 days at the superb location of Budworth Mere in the heart of rural Cheshire. Key features will be:
- A Friday Night Social for early arrivals, with hot food and bar open.
- Free sailing on Saturday morning. First race 1.00pm on Sat.
- On-site camping and plenty of local accommodation. See accommodation list below.
- 4-Course Dinner, Real Ales, Fine Wines with Jazz Band and Bar Games on the Saturday Night.
- Excellent, modern changing rooms and clubhouse facilities.
This event is sure to be very popular and, with entries limited to just 50 boats, an early application is recommended.
