GP14 Racing
Budworth is a racing Club, and runs competitive series during the year.
GP14 Main Points Series: Sundays, March to mid July, then through September & October.
GP14 Summer Points Series: Sundays from mid July to the end of August
GP14 Autumn Open Series - Sundays in November & December

The club encourages every holder of a boat place to participate in a minimum of 20 races per season (it may sound a lot but it’s only seven Saturdays or Sundays). Consequently, a large proportion of the fleet races regularly, resulting in high turnouts and good competition - it is not unusual to find 20 GPs on the water on a typical Sunday. There is competitive racing at all levels - another advantage of large turnouts is that there are always others of a similar standard to race against.

The fleet competes for a number of trophies for all ability levels. These include gold, silver and bronze standard in the main fleet, an individual handicap competition and a turnout prize. In addition, there are monthly and annual progress prizes, which recognise individual improvement.
Junior GP14 sailing has developed strongly within the club over the past few seasons and we are constantly encouraging more juniors to race in the GP fleet.
Training sessions are regularly organised in conjunction with the GP Association to meet demand, and newer members are also encouraged to draw upon the wealth of experience of the solid core of long-standing GP sailors.

Our annual open meeting is held in early June and is part of the GP Northern Bell Series. This always attracts a sizeable entry with over 30 boats for each event in recent years, with over half made up of visitors from other clubs.
A number of members compete at other events on the Northern Bell circuit and there is also significant support for events such as the GP Nationals, GP Masters, Southport 24 Hour Race, GP Youth Nationals and regatta weeks at Abersoch and the Menai Straits.
Budworth sailing Club has a friendly atmosphere and strong social calendar. It goes without saying that the GP fleet makes a sizeable contribution to this, always supporting - and often organising - a range of events throughout the year.
